A series of shallow steps down which water is allowed to flow; designed to permit salmon to circumvent artificial barriers such as power dams as the salmon swim upstream to spawn.

Remembering The Poet Sohrab Sepehri: 1928-1980

Sohrab Sepehri (October 7, 1928 - April 21, 1980) was a notable modern Persian poet and a painter. He was born in Kashan in Isfahan province of Iran. He is considered one of the five most famous modern Persian (Iranian) poets who have practiced "New Poetry".
